Storage

Store in tightly closed packaging in dry, cool and well-ventilated rooms.
Avoid contact with water.

Keep away from sources of ignition.

Storage temperature: 0 °C to +35 °C
Shelf life: 2 years from the date of manufacture in unopened original packaging.

First aid

If inhaled – move the affected person to fresh air.
If on skin – wash immediately with running water.
If in eyes – rinse with running water for 10–15 minutes.
If swallowed and the person is conscious – drink 100 ml of water.

Occupational safety

Keep out of reach of children.
Do not store together with food or animal feed.
Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling the product.
Avoid unnecessary contact with the product.

Wear tight-fitting safety goggles when handling the product.
Before use wear protective gloves, protective clothing and sturdy footwear (e.g. rubber boots).

Improper use may be harmful to health.
After use close the package carefully.

Mode of action

Detia Wühlmausgas contains 800 g/kg calcium carbide.
When in contact with water, soil moisture or air humidity, calcium carbide reacts and decomposes forming:

• calcium oxide (calcium hydroxide)

• acetylene

• phosphine

The repellent effect is based on the unpleasant odor produced during this reaction, which forces animals to leave the treated area.

Sometimes a smell of garlic, fish or carbide may occur.

The product does not kill water voles and moles, it only repels them, therefore their return is possible.

Instructions for use

Locate underground tunnels using a probe rod.
Carefully open the tunnel to check if it is active. If after 1–2 hours the tunnel is closed again with soil, it is active.

Place the required amount of product into each tunnel.
Then cover the opening with suitable material (grass, wood, stone or soil) without pressing it down, so that the gas produced can spread through the tunnels.

After decomposition the residue in the soil becomes agricultural lime.

Dosage

For water voles – 1 sachet (5 g) per tunnel.
For moles – 4 sachets (20 g) per tunnel.

Important

The product may be used only in open areas.
Do not use under buildings or near buildings to prevent gas entering buildings.
Do not open the portioned sachets.
Do not apply during rain, heavy fog or in very wet soil.

Empty packaging

Empty packaging must not be reused for other purposes.
Dispose of packaging according to applicable regulations.

Frequency of use

The product may be used in open areas throughout the year if necessary.

Maximum number of treatments per season: as required.
Pre-harvest interval: not required.
